Sharply dressed, bald head, and endless swag. Daymond John, a legend from Queens, first made his start as a young-gun when he created “FUBU”. This new, neon and bright colored style hit the market with force. Before he knew it, his FUBU apparel was a top seller in Macy’s and gained extreme popularity around the globe. His expertise is utilized in the show as he advises entrepreneurs and acquires new brands. In an interview with Daymond John, he says that, “the educational aspect of the show is one of the best things for all entrepreneurs”. Daymond brings tons of energy to the table, as well as endless Branding knowledge from his own personal experience starting FUBU.
Favorite Daymond John Moment
Although there are plenty of awesome moments of Daymond on the show, I would say that the most heart-warming was with “Moe’s Bows” (Season 5, Episode 26).
He explains to Moe that, “In 1989, I was offered $10,000 for 40% of my business. My company was only a couple of hats. 10 years later, that money would have been worth 40 million dollars….” and that, “at this time I don’t think you need the money”. Daymond was out on the deal, but promised to be Moe’s “mentor” for the road ahead. Moe was beyond thrilled and excited to accept a new friend and mentor, Daymond John.
